Blitz 5 Top 25: Week 6

The Blitz 5 Top 25 presented by TriStateFootball.com. has seen teams settle at the top of the poll as we hit the midway point of the regular season. The lower ranked teams in the poll are still shifting around and and that trend doesn’t appear to be ending any time soon.

The GCL South highlights the Week 6 schedule with #9 La Salle hosting #1 Moeller and #4 St. Xavier on the road at #8 Elder. There are five more games that will see ranked teams face off this #2 Princeton is at #15 Hamilton, #5 Anderson heads to #17 Milford, #7 Cooper is at #12 Highlands,  #10 Middletown is at #13 Lakota East and #23 Mason welcomes in #22 Fairfield.

Here’s the Blitz 5 Top 25 for Week 6:

1. Moeller (4-1, 1-0) – LAST WEEK: won at #4 St. Xavier (3-2,0-1), 45-37. The Crusaders offense is putting up 36.1 points per contest. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at #9 La Salle (5-0).

2. Princeton (4-1, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: beat then #21 Mason (1-4, 1-3), 30-7. The Vikings don’t have a runner averaging more than 41 yards per game rushing. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at #15  Hamilton (3-2, 2-2).

3. Lakota West (4-1, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: won at #10 Middletown (4-1, 3-1), 51-7. The Firebirds have put back-to-back 50 point games for the first time in more than two decades. NEXT UP: 9/27 – COLERAIN (0-5, 0-4).

4. St. Xavier (3-2, 0-1) – LAST WEEK: lost to  #1 Moeller (4-1, 0-1). The Bombers are 1-2 in games decided by eight points or less. NEXT UP: NEXT UP: 9/27 – at #8 Elder (4-1).

5. Anderson (5-0, 4-0) LAST WEEK: beat then #11 KINGS (3-2, 2-2), 41-0. The Raptors defense is holding opponents to 5.0 points per game and hasn’t allowed more than seven points in a contest. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at #17 Milford (3-2, 2-2).

6. Winton Woods (5-0, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: beat Walnut Hills (1-4, 0-4), 52-0. The Warriors defense has posted back-to-back shutouts and are allowing just 2.8 points per game. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at Little Miami (1-4, 1-3).

7. Cooper (5-0) – LAST WEEK: beat Great Crossing (4-1), 62-36. Quarterback Cam O’Hara has thrown 20 touchdown passes with no interceptions this season. NEXT UP: 9/27 –at #12 Highlands (4-1).

8. Elder (4-1) – LAST WEEK: beat Louisville St. Xavier (KY) (3-2). The Panthers are 2-1 in games decided by seven points or less. NEXT UP: 9/27 – #4 ST. XAVIER (3-2, 0-1).

9. La Salle (5-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Withrow (0-5). The Lancers are 5-0 for the first time since 2019. NEXT UP: 9/27 – #1 MOELLER (4-1, 1-0).

10. Middletown (4-1, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: lost to #3 Lakota West (4-1, 3-1), 51-7. How will the Middies handle adversity after their first loss? NEXT UP: 9/27 – at #13 Lakota East (3-2,3-1).

11. Ryle (4-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Christian Academy-Louisville (3-2). Three straight games decided by seven points or less has seen the Raiders go 2-1 in that spa. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at Louisville St. Xavier (2-2).

12. Highlands (4-1) – LAST WEEK: beat Raceland (1-3), 35-0. Highlands has forced 12 turnovers (eight INTs, four FRs) on the year. NEXT UP: 9/27 –#7 COOPER (5-0).

13. Lakota East (3-2, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: won at then #19 Fairfield (2-3, 1-3), 59-17. Quarterbacks Jamison Kitna and Logan Cole connected with 11 different receivers on their 22 combined completions in last Friday’s victory. NEXT UP: 9/27 – #10 MIDDLETOWN (4-1, 3-1).

14. Covington Catholic (3-2) – LAST WEEK: Beat the #23 Beechwood, 49-28. The Colonels are averaging 390 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns during their current three game winning streak. NEXT UP: 9/26 at Holmes (0–5) .

15. Hamilton (3-2, 2-2) – LAST WEEK: beat Oak Hills (2-3, 1-3), 34-7. Last Friday’s 34 points were the most the Big Blue has scored in their last 14 games. NEXT UP: 9/27 – #2 PRINCETON (4-1,1-0).

16. West Clermont (3-2, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: beat then #14 Milford (3-2, 2-2), 49-21. Landon Young (192) and Bo Rickman (178) combined for 370 of the Wolves 400 yards rushing in last week’s offensive explosion against Milford.NEXT UP: 9/27 – at Turpin (2-3, 2-2).

17. Milford (3-2, 2-2) – LAST WEEK: lost at then #24 West Clermont (3-2, 3-1), 49-21. The Eagles had a season high four turnovers in the loss to West Clermont. NEXT UP: 9/27 – #5 ANDERSON (5-0, 4-0).

18. Kings (3-2, 2-2) – LAST WEEK: lost at #5 Anderson (5-0, 4-0), 41-0. The Knights get blanked for the first time since 2013, a span of 124 games between shutouts. NEXT UP: 9/27 – LEBANON (3-2, 2-2).

19. Harrison (4-1) – LAST WEEK: lost at Clinton-Massie (3-2), 21-17. The Wildcats let a 10-point lead slip away in their first loss. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at Campbell County (2-3).

20. East Central (3-2, 2-0) – LAST WEEK: beat Batesville (4-0, 0-1), 24-13. The Trojans now have a 44-13 advantage in their all-time series against Batesville.NEXT UP: 9/27 – at South Dearborn (4-1).

21. Badin (3-2) – LAST WEEK: won at Hughes (2-3), 38-0. The Rams have allowed just 6.0 points per game over the last four weeks.NEXT UP: 9/27 – at Fenwick (2-3).

22. Fairfield (2-3, 2-2) – LAST WEEK: lost to then #17 LAKOTA EAST (3-2, 3-1). 59-17. A porous Indians defense has given up 50-plus points and 500-plus yards in back-to-back losses. NEXT UP: 9/27 – at #23 Mason (1-4, 1-3).

23. Mason (1-4, 1-3) – LAST WEEK: lost #2 Princeton (4-1, 4-0), 30-7. The Comets have 13 takeaways with a plus-seven turnover margin yet the offense has only found the end zone four times on the season. NEXT UP: 9/27 – #22 FAIRFIELD (2-3, 2-2).

24. Beechwood (4-1) – LAST WEEK: lost at then #16 Covington Catholic (3-2), 49-28. The only three regular season losses over the past four years for the Tigers have been to Covington Catholic. NEXT UP: GALLATIN COUNTY (1-3).

25. Mount Healthy (4-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Bishop Fenwick (2-3), 35-10. The Owls are aiming for their first five game winning streak since 2016.NEXT UP: 9/27 – NORTHWEST (1-4).
