VANDALIA, Ohio – The Butler Aviators were able to extend their lead in the Miami Valley Conference with a win over the Troy Trojans on Friday night by a score of 21-13.

Despite out gaining the Aviators in all offensive categories, the Trojans’ offensive mistakes proved too much to overcome. The Butler defense forced two critical turnovers, flipping the field and allowing the Aviators offense to cruise in for touchdowns.

Butler senior quarterback Mason Reckner had one touchdown on the ground and through the air each, leading the Aviators to another hard-fought league win. Reckner was able to find junior Julius Rusk for a 13-yard pass in the third quarter to push the lead to two touchdowns.

Troy made a late game charge, scoring a late third-quarter touchdown to cut the lead to one score, but were unable to complete the comeback. In addition to the turnovers, the Trojans’ offense struggled on third and fourth downs, going a combined 5-for-16.
