KETTERING, Ohio – Much like their previous two meetings, the contest between unbeatens LaSalle and Fairmont was a largely defensive contest, as the eventual winner of the game, LaSalle scoring fewer than 20 points in a 18-12 victory over the Firebirds.

Despite two forced Lancer turnovers by the Firebirds’ defense in the first quarter of play, the LaSalle offense did just enough to pull away from Fairmont late in the contest. The Lancer offense relied on the legs of senior quarterback Patrick McLaughlin, who ripped off multiple long scrambles throughout the evening to set up LaSalle with good field position.

Additionally, LaSalle’s special teams play was on full display throughout the evening, as the Lancer’s sophomore kicker Brennan Marsh was 2/2 with field goals from 20 and 38-yards, making all the difference in the closely contested defensive battle.
