High level action made its way to several games in Kentucky as CovCath got a big win and some Camels got back to some winning ways in our NKY round-up.
NO. 16 COVINGTON CATHOLIC 49, NO. 24 BEECHWOOD 28
CovCath racked up a staggering 561 rushing yards as they used a physical and punishing style of football to knock off Beechwood at home on Friday night. Tailback Dylan Gaiser rushed 14 times for 208 yards on the night. Andrew Bessler had 8 carries for 170 yards and 4 touchdowns, and quarterback Cash Harney carried the ball 17 times for 138 yards in the win. Owen Pitzer rushed for two scores on the night as well.
The Colonels defense did just enough to slow down the high-octane Tigers and hold them to 28 points. CovCath was able to pull away from a close game with several big plays in the second half and get a statement win. The Colonels moved to 3-2 on the season as Beechwood fell to 4-1.
CAMPBELL COUNTY 29, NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 28
Tha Campbell County Camels got the best of Newport Central Catholic on Friday night with a thrilling victory on Friday night. NCC took on the 6A program in Campbell County and battled tooth and nail until falling just a point short.
LLOYD 44, BISHOP BROSSART 16
Lloyd Memorial scored 37 unanswered points to break open a 7-7 ball game en route to a big win against Bishop Brossart on Friday night. The Juggernauts led 19-7 at the half and 44-7 after three quarters before giving up only nine points in the final quarter.
