Blitz 5 Top 25: Week 10

The playoffs are starting in Indiana, the regular season is ending in Ohio and the postseason is still three Friday’s away in Kentucky as the Blitz 5 Top 25 presented by TriStateFootball.com winds down.
There are only three games pitting Top 25 teams against each other this week but they are good ones as #2 Lakota West is at #18 Mason, #12 Elder hosts #13 La Salle and #24 McNicholas welcomes in #17 Badin. Three teams #3 Anderson, #4 Cooper and #23 Wyoming are looking to complete perfect 10-0 regular seasons.
Here’s the Blitz 5 Top 25 for Week 10:
- Moeller (8-1) – LAST WEEK: beat St. Edward (5-4), 35-30. Quarterback Matt Ponatoski has thrown 34 touchdown passes with only two interceptions. NEXT UP: 10/26 – Muskegon (MI)(3-4).
2. Lakota West (8-1, 7-1) – LAST WEEK: beat then #8 Lakota East (6-3, 6-2), 42-24. Quarterback Sam Wiles is averaging 108.5 yards rushing over his last six starts. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at #18 Mason (5-4, 5-3).
3. Anderson (9-0, 8-0) – LAST WEEK: beat then #4 Winton Woods (8-1, 7-1), 31-17. Quarterback Justice Burnam has thrown 30 touchdown passes with only two interceptions. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Loveland (3-6, 3-5).
4. Cooper (9-0, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Boone County (2-5, 0-3), 48-14. Quarterback Cam O’Hara has thrown 29 touchdown passes with only one interception. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Dixie Heights (3-5, 2-2).
5. Winton Woods (8-1, 7-1) – LAST WEEK: lost at #3 Anderson (9-0, 8-0), 31-17. The Warriors defense gave up 30-plus points for the first time in 28 games. NEXT UP: 10/25 – LEBANON (6-3, 5-3).
6. St. Xavier (6-3) – LAST WEEK: beat St. Ignatius (1-8), 31-19. Daniel Vollmer had the first 100-yard rushing game by a Bombers running back this season versus St. Ignatius. NEXT UP: 10/25 – LIFE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (VA) (1-7).
7. Princeton (7-2, 7-1) – LAST WEEK: won at #21 Middletown (4-5, 3-5) 13-7. Linebacker Shelvon Hibbett has 11.0 sacks of which 6.5 have come in the last three weeks. NEXT UP: 10/25 – COLERAIN (0-9, 0-8).
8. Hamilton (7-2, 6-2) – LAST WEEK: won at Colerain (0-9, 0-8), 38-0. The Big Blue picked up their third shutout of the season. NEXT UP: 10/25 – SYCAMORE (1-8, 1-7).
9. Lakota East (6-3, 6-2) – LAST WEEK: lost at #2 Lakota West (8-1, 7-1), 42-24. Junior Jayden Seay is averaging 25.5 yards on 15 receptions of which five have gone for touchdowns. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Oak Hills (4-5, 4-4).
10. Ryle (6-2, 2-0) – LAST WEEK: beat Great Crossing (5-3, 1-1), 36-8.The Raiders defense gives up less than 10 points for just the second time this season. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Simon Kenton (4-4, 1-1).
11. Highlands (7-2, 3-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Conner (6-3, 2-2), 42-14. Quarterback Rio Litmer has thrown 11 of his 19 touchdown passes in the last three weeks. NEXT UP: 10/25 – SCOTT (2-6, 1-4) .
12. Elder (5-4, 0-2) – LAST WEEK: beat Bishop Chatard (IN)(6-2), 14-0. The Panthers have only scored more than 17 points once in their last six contests. NEXT UP: 10/25 – #13 LA SALLE (7-2, 0-2).
13. La Salle (7-2, 0-2) – LAST WEEK: beat Harvest Prep (6-2), 28-14. The Lancers have held eight of their nine opponents to 19 points or less. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at #12 Elder (5-4, 0-2).
14. Covington Catholic (6-2, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Harrison County (1-7, 0-3), 56-6. The Colonels have outscored their last three foes 166-6. NEXT UP: 10/25 – MASON COUNTY (7-1, 3-0).
15. West Clermont (6-3, 5-3) – LAST WEEK: beat Loveland (3-6, 3-5), 21-17. Landon Young has 1,223 yards rushing. He is the only player in West Clermont history to run for more than 1,000 yards in a season. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Little Miami (1-8, 1-7).
16. Kings (7-2, 6-2) – LAST WEEK: beat Turpin (2-7, 2-6), 27-7. The Knights have allowed just 14 points during their current four game winning streak. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Walnut Hills (1-8, 0-8).
17. Badin (7-2, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: beat Chaminade Julienne (5-4, 2-2), 14-0. The Rams have not allowed more than 14 points in a contest during their current seven game winning streak. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at #24 McNicholas (8-1, 4-0).
18. Mason (5-4, 5-3) – LAST WEEK: won at Sycamore (1-8, 1-7), 29-7. The Comets have scored 108 points during their current four game winning streak. They had put up just 53 points total over their first five contests. NEXT UP: 10/25 – #2 LAKOTA WEST (8-1, 7-1).
19. Harrison (7-2, 2-0) – LAST WEEK: lost at Bishop Watterson (9-0), 51-14. Cole Koops has run for 100 yards or more in eight of the Wildcats nine games. NEXT UP: 10/25 – NORTHWEST (2-7, 0-2).
20. East Central (6-3) – LAST WEEK lost to Roncalli (4-4), 17-7. The Trojans were held to less than 10 points for the first time since 2020, breaking a string of 60 games with double-digit points scored. NEXT UP: 11/1 – at Seymour (4-5), IHSAA Class 5A, Sectional 14 playoffs.
21. Middletown (4-5, 3-5) – LAST WEEK: lost to #7 Princeton (7-2, 7-1), 13-7. The Middies are averaging just 11.6 points during their current five game skid, all to Top 25 teams. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Fairfield (2-7, 2-6).
22. Beechwood (8-1, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: beat Carroll County County (0-8, 0-4), 61-0. Quarterback Clay Hayden has thrown 33 touchdown passes with only three interceptions. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Bracken County (7-1, 4-0).
23. Wyoming (9-0, 6-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Indian Hill (7-2, 5-1), 23-13. Joel Hancock has run for 1,571 yards, accounting for 89.8% of the Cowboys yards on the ground. NEXT UP: 10/25 – FINNEYTOWN (1-8, 0-6).
24. McNicholas (8-1, 4-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Carroll (4-5, 0-4), 59-0. The Rockets top the 50-point mark for the first time since Week 1 of 2022. NEXT UP: 10/25 – BADIN (7-2, 4-0).
25. Mount Healthy (7-2, 2-1) – LAST WEEK: beat Talawanda (3-6, 1-1), 62-42. Quarterback Jahmier Spain has thrown 31 touchdown passes with only five interceptions. NEXT UP: 10/25 – at Waverly (5-4).
