NKY Round-Up: Colonels Cruise

Highlands picked up another big win and CovCath and Dixie Heights aced a road test in our Week 9 NKY Round-Up.
NO. 11 HIGHLANDS 42, CONNER 14
Highlands clinched a home playoff game with their win over Conner on Friday night. The Bluebirds were in control from the start as they led 28-7 at the half and were never threatened in the ballgame.
The Bluebirds netted 545 yards of total offense in the victory. Deven James rushed for two scores for the Bluebirds and Rio Litmer had four passing touchdowns in a stellar performance. Litmer threw f0r 333 yards and four touchdowns. Jackson Arnold pulled in two of those TD passes and finished with 161 yards on 10 catches.
Bluebirds (7-2, 3-1) clinch a home playoff game. Cougars (6-3, 2-2) will be the No. 3 seed in the Class 5A, 6th District.
POSTGAME INTERVIEW: Bob Sphire, Highlands
NO. 14 COVINGTON CATHOLIC 56, HARRISON COUNTY 6
Covington Catholic led 28-0 after the first quarter and never looked back as they blitzed Harrison County.
The Colonels did much of their damage on the ground. Owen Pitzer, Logan Sanning, Cash Harney, and Dylan Geisler all rushed for a score in the first. Andrew Bessler rushed for a score and Sanning also added a receiving touchdown on the night. Geisler added a second half score as did Mason Brandner.
On defense CovCath ceded just 68 total yards on the night as Will Danneman and Owen Pitzer each picked off a pass.
SIMON KENTON 48, CAMPBELL COUNTY 29
The Pioneers posted 497 yards on total offense, led by Brady Lee who compiled over 400 yards of total offense and six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in the win.
Campbell County netted 378 yards of offense, but ran out of fire power in the end. Trevor Bertram ran for score and pulled in a TD pass in the loss. Lucas Anthrop finished with three touchdown passes for the Camels.
This was a big win for the Pioneers to get them back on the winning track after dropping four of their last five contests.
DIXIE HEIGHTS 48, SCOTT 14
David Anderson took the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and Dixie Heights rolled past Scott on Friday night. Anderson would score two touchdowns on the night for the Colonels who also got a strong game from Armani Gregg and Mason Fields en route to a blowout victory. JJ Kriger also had a touchdown reception in the win.
