NKY Round-Up: NewCath wins rivalry

Ryle got a big win over Campbell County and some Bluebirds put Boone County to bed in our NKY Round-Up.
NO. 12 RYLE 42, CAMPBELL COUNTY 14
Ryle jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead and cruised to a victory against Campbell County. Nathan Verax threw for three touchdowns for the Raiders in the win. Jaden Galicia and Dillon Smith both caught touchdown passes on the night. The Raiders also got touchdown runs from Jacob and Javan Savage on the night as everyone got in on the action in the win.
Lucas Anthrop threw a touchdown pass to Ayden Earls for the Camels and Trevor Bertam rushed for a score to do the scoring for Campbell County. Ryle backup quarterback Cole Welter rushed for a 15-yard score late to produce the final score. Ryle moved to 5-2 as Campbell County dropped to 2-5.
NO. 13 HIGHLANDS 55, BOONE COUNTY 0
Highlands got a second straight shutout with a 55-0 drubbing of Boone County. The Bluebirds have now outscored their last two opponents by a staggering score of 104-0. Highlands meant business from the outset as they went on the road and dominated from the opening kickoff until the final seconds ticked off of the clock.
Highlands moves to 5-2 on the season and Boone County dropped to 2-5 with just a few weeks to go in the regular season.
NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 35, NEWPORT 7
NCC jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead and never looked back as they ran past rival Newport on Friday night. The Thoroughbreds were able to take home the Fireman’s Bell as they cruised to victory. Kaleb Cole rushed for four scores on the night to lead the Thoroughbreds to victory on the road. Emmanuel Miles put the finishing touches on the win with a late score to produce the final of the 35 points.
Kendall Buck-Barber scored on a broken play late for Newport to avoid the shutout. NCC starts out district play on the right foot and improved to 4-3 (1-0). Newport dropped to 4-2 on the season.
