- Updated: November 16, 2024
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – For the first time in three years, the East Central Trojans were handed a postseason loss and will not be Class 5A state champs, as the hosting Decatur Central Hawks defeated the Trojans 21-16. This is the second straight regional championship for Decatur Central and third in school history, all since 2018.
Decatur Central quarterback Bo Polston threw two touchdown passes, including a 48-yard catch-and-run to Fa’Rel Carter. The Hawks took the lead on the pass and never looked back. Polston finished the night 10-21 for 181 yards.
East Central tried to keep the contest close, as Nathan McFee kicked three different field goals and the defense came up with three takeaways, but it wasn’t enough. Trojans running back Ryan Minges carried the ball 29 times for 151 yards and a score.
