SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – For the first time in the 21st century Centerville will be playing for a regional title after knocking off Dublin Coffman in dominating fashion. The Elks made a statement on the opening kickoff as Ziere Alston returned it 93-yards for a touchdown. The rest of the evening was almost flawless for the black and gold as they picked up their seventh straight victory.

Junior quarterback Shane Cole had a night to remember, going 11-11 for 230 yards and a pair of first half scoring tosses. The latter put Centerville up 28-0 at halftime. Classmate Parker Johnson carried the ball 16 times for 131 yards and his 25th rushing touchdown of the season.

Sophomore Alston, a rising star, found the end zone on a four-yard run in the third quarter to make it, 35-0 and the running clock was on for the final 17 minutes of the contest. The two touchdowns were the first of young Alston’s career. On defense, Alston had four solo tackles, the teams only sack and two tackles for losses.

Centerville will now face GWOC rival Wayne for the Division I, Region 2 title. The Elks rolled the Warriors, 38-14 in the regular season final. It is Wayne’s only loss in the last eight games.
