Ponatoski, Hill, Miller Jr. Earn top honors in Division I

Quarterback Matt Ponatoski guided  Moeller (11-1) to the top seed in the Division I, Region 4 playoffs with his accurate arm. The junior has thrown for 3,091 yards, completed 70.0% of his passes, with a school record 44 touchdown tosses and only two interceptions. That effort has earned him the Division I Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year.

Winton Woods (10-2) linebacker Justin Hill has been tabbed the Division I Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year. The senior watched the opposition run away from him but still managed to get in on 33 tackles, with eight sacks, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one interception. The Alabama commit was also the 2023 OPSWA Division II Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year.

Fairmont (9-3) front man Dave Miller Jr. brings home Southwest District Coach of the Year honors. Miller Jr. led the Firebirds to their first ever GWOC title and top seed in the Division I, Region 2 playoffs. He is now 51-46 in nine years at the school and 176-90 overall in 24 years as a head coach.
