Senior Salute: Carson Pieczonka
- Updated: December 20, 2024

With so many seniors having departed from the past two state championship teams, East Central was looking for leadership in 2024. Carson Pieczonka stepped up and answered the call.
Pieczonka tallied 56 tackles, had two-and-a-half sacks, four-and-a-half tackles for losses, four pass breakups, three interceptions, 252 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He was named IFCA Class 5A Senior All-State for his efforts.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive stud was a ballhawking hybrid, playing outside linebacker/strong safety for the Trojans. Pieczonka was equally adept and great at dropping into coverage or putting pressure on opposing backfields. In his three years as a starter, East Central went a combined 36-6, won two state titles and three and three sectional crowns.
Pieczonka finishes his career as a Trojan with 158 total tackles, four sacks, 10.0 tackles for losses, 19 pass breakups and 10 interceptions. He became the 11th player in East Central history to have at least 10 picks (tied for 8th most in a career). Still looking for a home to play at, at the next level, Pieczonka has offers from Mount St. Joseph and McPherson.
