2024 TSF Dayton DPOY Finalists

Four seniors and four juniors are amongst the eight finalists for the 2024 TriState Football Dayton Defensive Player of the Year. This is the first nomination for all of them.
The members of the All-TSF Teams, the TSF Teams of the Year, Players of the Year and finalists from Indiana, Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati as well as the Mella Windows Players of the Week will be recognized at the TriState Football Year In Review Awards Show on Monday, February 17th, 2025 at the Holy Grail- Banks – RSVP 2024 TSF Year In Review Show
Here is a look at our finalists for the 2024 TriState Football Dayton Defensive Player of the Year.
Cesar Berryman, Valley View, Jr, LB – Was named OPSMA Division IV Second Team All-Ohio and SWBL Southwestern DPOY. Berryman followed up an excellent sophomore campaign with an even more outstanding junior year. He led the SBL with 29.0 tackles for losses and finished with 92 total tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Ronnie Butler, Xenia, Sr, LB – Was named OPSMA Division II First Team All-Ohio, OPSMA Division III Southwest District DPOY and MVL DPOY. Butler was the centerpiece of a Xenia defense that held seven of its first nine opponents (all wins) to eight points or less on the way to a 10-2 finish. He tied Collin Isaac for the MVL lead in tackles with 153 and also had a sack, eight-and-a-half sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumbles and two pick-sixes. Butler, a four-year starter, finished his career at Xenia with 395 total tackles, seven sacks, 29.0 tackles for losses, six forced fumbles and 10 takeaways (seven FRs, three INTs).
Collin Isaac, Tippecanoe, Jr, LB – Was named OPSMA Division III First Team All-Ohio and OPSMA Division III Southwest District DPOY. “Collin plays with an intensity and aggression that allows him to dominate on defense,” Tippecanoe head coach Matt Burgbacher states about his defensive star. Isaac tied Ronnie Butler for the MVL lead in tackles with 153 to go along with five sacks, seven tackles for losses, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception as the Red Devils won the conference going undefeated in the regular season and 11-1 overall.
Royce Rachel, Badin, Sr, DL – Was named OPSMA Division II Third Team All-Ohio and GCL Co-ed DPOY. A flat out winner. In Rachel’s three years as a starter, Badin went a combined 35-5 and never lost a GCL Co-ed game (15-0). In that span, the Rams held 20 of those foes to nine points or less with seven shutouts. Rachel topped off his great career with 79 total tackles, nine sacks (tied for the lead in the GCL Co-ed), a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2024.
Royce Rogers, Springfield, Jr, DL – Was named OPSMA Division I Third Team All-Ohio. Springfield head coach Moe Douglass calls Rogers “one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the Midwest and one of the best prospects in Ohio.” The 6-foot-1, 270-pound Rogers tallied 64 total tackles, a sack, seven tackles for losses, forced fumble and one pass breakup as a junior.
Jacob Taylor, Centerville, Sr, LB – Was named OPSMA Second Team All-Southwest District. Taylor led the GWOC in tackles with 129 on his way to helping Centerville (11-4) to its first regional title since 1991. He also had seven sacks, 10.0 tackles for losses, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and an interception.
Aidan Weimer, Springboro, Sr, LB – Was named OPSMA Second Team All-Ohio and GWOC DPOY. Weimer was second in the GWOC with 128 tackles and also had four sacks, eight-and-a-half tackles for losses, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. A three-year starter, Weimer recorded 318 tackles, 18.0 sacks, 36.5 tackles for losses, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and seven pass breakups.
Jamarcus Whyce, Trotwood-Madison, Jr, DL – Was named OPSMA Division II First Team All-Ohio. Whyce is one of the nation’s top defensive linemen in the Class of 2026. He is a dominating force in the trenches who ended up with 64 total tackles, seven sacks and 13.0 tackles for losses this past fall. The foot-3, 290-pound junior has more than 20 offers which include Notre Dame, Tennessee, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Indiana, and Kentucky.
