Winners would be the best word to describe the six seniors and two juniors who are the eight finalists for the 2024 TriState Football Dayton Offensive Player of the Year. This is a group that elevated their teams to the upper echelon this past fall.

This is the second finalist nomination for Garrett Lundy. He becomes just the 11th player in the 16 years of the TSF Dayton OPOY award to be nominated at least twice. Raveion Hargrove (Trotwood-Madison, 2015-’17) and Jacob Harrison (Chaminade Julienne/Centerville, 2010-’12) were three-time finalists.

The members of the All-TSF Teams, the TSF Teams of the Year, Players of the Year and finalists from Indiana, Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati as well as the Mella Windows Players of the Week will be recognized at the TriState Football Year In Review Awards Show on Monday, February 17th, 2025 at the Holy Grail-Banks – RSVP 2024 TSF Year In Review Show

Here is a look at our finalists for the 2024 TriState Football Dayton Offensive Player of the Year.

Alex Amburgy, Waynesville, Sr, QB – Was named OPSMA Division V First Team All-Ohio, OPSMA Division V Southwest District OPOY and SWBL Buckeye Co-OPOY. What a senior campaign it was for Amburgy who threw for 2,615 yards, ran for 953 yards and accounted for 45 touchdowns (28 pass, 16 rush, one rec) as Waynesville (9-4) made the regional sem-finals for a second straight year. The Spartans have won seven playoff games in school history, Amburgy has been the starting quarterback in five of those victories. He finished his career with 5,662 yards passing, 1,650 yards rushing, 1,835 all-purpose yards and 83 touchdowns accounted for (54 pass, 24 rush, four rec, one int ret). Brock Baker, Fairmont, Sr, QB – Was named OPSMA Division I Second Team All-Ohio and GWOC OPOY. The heart and soul of Fairmont’s first ever GWOC Championship Team. “The things Brock does for our team can not adequately be measured through stats alone however. Brock is the unquestioned leader of our offense and football team in general. He manages our offense without question even though playing for us definitely limits the stats he is capable of putting up in other offenses that feature the quarterback,” Firebirds head coach Dave Miller, Jr. states about his star player. Baker threw for 460 yards, ran for 429 yards with four rushing and three passing touchdowns as a senior.

Shane Cole, Centerville, Sr, QB – OPSMA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District. Cole emerged as a legitimate dual-threat signal-caller in his first year as a starter. He helped guide Centerville (11-4) to its first regional title since 1991 throwing for 1,460 yards, running for 857 yards and accounting for 23 touchdowns (13 pass, 10 rush).

Jackson Davis, Tippecanoe, Sr, WR – Was named OPSMA Division III First Team All-Ohio. The speedy Davis rewrote the Tippecanoe receiving record books with MVL bests of 73 receptions, 1,153 receiving yards and 20 touchdown catches helping the Red Devils to an undefeated regular season and 11-1 finish. Davis also amassed 1,614 all-purpose yards, averaged 38.2 yards on 12 kickoff returns and returned two for scores.

Tyrell Lewis, Wayne, Sr, QB – Was named OPSMA Division I Third Team All-Ohio. Despite missing almost all of the first five games with an injury, Lewis still managed to lead the GWOC in passing yards with 1,906 and passing touchdowns with 21. He also ran for 273 yards and three scores. Wayne went 9-2 with Lewis as the starter and 0-4 without him under center.  A four-year starter, Lewis ended his Warriors career with 7,588 yards passing, 1,074 yards rushing, 67 touchdown passes and 20 rushing touchdowns. He has verbally committed to Arkansas State University.

As a senior, he ran for 1,244 yards (7.0 yards/carry), caught 64 balls for 1,113 yards (17.4 yards/rec), amassed 2,889 all-purpose yards (532 ret) and found the end zone 32 times (19 rush, 11 rec, one KR, one IR).
