2025 Snapshot: Troy
- Updated: May 9, 2025

They are moving on up at Troy. The Trojans are making the leap from Division II, Region 8 to Division I, Region 2. Although it may sound like a daunting task, the road to the program’s 10th consecutive playoff appearance may be easier in DI with 16 of the 18 teams in the region making the postseason. IN DII, 16 of the 25 teams make it to Week 11. It’s going to be a challenge but you can bank on head coach Troy Everhart will have his club playing with a chip on its shoulder and relishing its role as an underdog.
Everhart is in his fourth year at the school and now everyone knows and understands his schemes and what his staff is wanting to accomplish. This group of starters has the potential to be the best group of leaders that Everhart has had yet. There are six returning starters on offense including a three-year starter at quarterback. Five are back on defense but there are six defensive returnees that combined to create 15 turnovers in 2024.
The Trojans are going to need that veteran leadership. “We have lots of hard working but unproven Friday night players,” Everhart says. There are huge voids that need to be filled at running back, along both lines and at linebacker. Those are all roles that are fueled by want and desire. If those positions are captured by players with that hunger, and with the foundation that is already laid, Troy is going to have a very successful season.

Aiden Kirkpatrick, Sr, QB – One of the most underrated quarterbacks in Southwest Ohio. As a junior, Kirkpatrick rounded out his game by adding the dimension of running. He finished the year with 788 yards on the ground, 1,074 through the air and 26 touchdowns (14 pass, 12 rush). The two-time Honorable Mention All-MVL selection has amassed 2,832 yards of total offense (1,946 pass, 886 rush) and 35 touchdowns (20 pass, 15 rush) in his career.
Kyson McCastle, Sr, OL/DL – The 6-foot-3, 260-pound McCastle will be the leader and anchor of the offensive line. He was an Honorable Mention All-MVL selection in 2024.
Hunter York, Sr, OL/DL – If ever there was a Trojan primed for a breakout campaign, York would be the man. He has shown glimpses of being special on the defensive line.
Logan Westerfield, Sr, DL – Busted out as a junior with 50 tackles, a sack, 7.0 tackles for losses, two fumble recoveries and an interception. He was named Honorable Mention All-MVL for his efforts.
