LAWRENCEBURG, Indiana – The song remains the same for the East Central Trojans and Lawrenceburg Tigers – a sad song for the Tigers.
The Dearborn County and Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference rivals faced off in Lawrenceburg Friday night, and for the 29th time in a row, the Trojans defeated their county rival , this time by a 39-12 tally.
Trojans running back Ryan Minges was the star of the show, scoring on runs of 5, 3 and 27 yards on his way to a three-score, 100-yard plus night and to lead the EC attack.
The closest it got was 14-6, after an 87-yard kickoff return by Lawrenceburg’s Isaiah Williams put the Tigers on the board, but after another score in the second quarter, Lawrenceburg could not mount any further serious threats.
For East Central, it’s the first of two rivalry games the Trojans have to open the season. Next week, they’ll host their border rivals in Harrison High School. The Wildcats downed the Trojans last season 35-28, and snapped EC’s 22-game winning streak.
