The St. Xavier Bombers rolled to a 2-0 start to the season with a convincing 20-7 home win over the Centerville Elks in Week 2.
Both teams displayed signs of some early-season rust as they both turned the ball over three times and between them only converted on 3-of-23 third-down conversions in the contest. However, when St. Xavier needed the stops their defense came up with the big plays.

Senior linebacker Kobe Clapper led the team with nine tackles (seven solo) and forced a fumble and classmate Jake Britt chipped in with his first interception of the season.
Quarterback Jackson Frey completed 14-of-22 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns while being picked off once. Cam Taylor led the Bombers with four receptions for 59 yards and a TD.
Centerville (0-2) struggled to move the ball on the night as they were held to 109 yards of total offense. The Elks avoided the shutout with a 28-yard Shane Cole to Josh Becker TD strike midway through the fourth quarter.
Next week both teams will hit the road to Indianapolis. Centerville visits Carmel while St. Xavier is set to battle Cathedral.
