PIQUA, OH – In one last tune-up before its MVL showdown with rival Tippecanoe, Xenia looked impressive beating Piqua for its fourth straight win. The Buccaneers have averaged 45.2 points per game during their current winning streak and 53.7 points over the last three victories.
The Xenia offense racked up 468 yards with a balanced attack that produced 235 yards on the ground and 233 yards through the air. Sophomore Gage Stephan went 21-26 for 233 yards with three touchdown passes. Senior Shawn Fishwick reeled in 10 receptions for 112 yards and a score. Classmate Deaunte White churned out 134 yards and a touchdown. It was the 13th time in 18 games that White has run for 130 yards or more and fifth time this season.
The Buccaneers defense also had a great night. They held Piqua to 68 yards rushing on 28 carries. The Indians did throw for 203 yards with a pair of touchdown tosses from Chris Davis to Rayshawn Garrett. Xenia was able to disrupt Davis for three interceptions including a 29-yard pick-six by junior Alex Gragg.
