Badin bests Alter, for share of eighth straight GCL Co-ed crown

HAMILTON, oh – A pair of big plays late in the fourth quarter provided Badin with the knockout punch it needed to put away Alter and win a share of its eighth straight GCL Co-ed crown. It was also the Rams 31st consecutive GCL Co-ed victory, 17th regular season win in a row and 19th consecutive triumph in October (dating back to 2020). They are one win away from finishing the regular season unbeaten for the fifth time in the last six years (6-0 in Covid shortened year – 2020).

With the game tied late in the fourth quarter Badin got found lightning in a bottle twice. With just under five minutes left in the contest Rams quarterback Colt Emerson connected with Larkyn King on an 80-yard touchdown pass. After holding Alter, Rams running back Lem Grayson broke off a 62-yard scoring scamper. It was his 20th rushing touchdown of the season.

Grayson wasn’t finished haunting the Knights, picking off a Rod Owens pass sealing Alter’s fate. Grayson now leads the GCL Co-ed with 933 yards rushing, 20 rushing touchdowns and is tied for the league lead in interceptions with four.

Grayson wasn’t the only Ram who had a big night. King had a career high 103 yards receiving on four receptions. Heid had a personal best 82 yards rushing and found the end zone for a fourth straight game.
