HAMILTON, Oh. – For the first half of Friday night’s Ohio Divsion III, Region 12 quarterfinal between Greater Catholic League Co-Ed rivals Badin and Alter, it looked as if the host Rams would come away with the victory rather effortlessly.
Alter would have something to say about that. After jumping out to a 21-0 lead, the Rams would have to stave off the game Knights, holding on for a 35-28 victory. It was Badin’s sixth straight win over Alter.
Badin had a 21-0 lead after one quarter and 28-7 at the half, but Alter – who tied Badin for the GLC Co-Ed title this season – would storm back in the second half to make the Rams sweat, drawing within one score at 35-28, but could never tie it up.
Badin’s James Brink and Hudson Heid each had two touchdowns apiece for the Rams – one of Brink’s being a 75-yard kickoff return for a score – while Drew Cripps had three rushing scores to help pace the Knights.
The Rams move on to face top-seed and undefeated Tippecanoe next Friday, while Alter finishes their campaign at 8-4.
