A new era begins at Clinton-Massie as Kevin Scholz takes over for longtime coaching great Dan McSurley who retired shortly after last season. It’s quite the first head coaching job to land for Scholz as Clinton-Massie has risen to become one of the best small school programs in Southwest Ohio in the 21st century. Maintaining that excellence is going to be a tall order to say the least.
The Falcons who have made 24 consecutive playoff appearances will be tested right out of the gate against a Waynesville team that’s on the rise, reigning Division VI state runner-up Coldwater and a Tri-Valley squad that shutout C-M, 35-0, a year ago. Clinton-Massie will then face only one school that finished the 2025 season over .500. The Falcons should be rolling right along by the time the playoffs start.

Here is a look at the 2026 Clinton-Massie schedule:

FINAL TAKE: Usually the reloading process goes pretty seamlessly at Clinton-Massie but that may not be the case for Scholz’s first squad in Clarksville. The Falcons have far more unknowns taking the field than they will have proven commodities taking the field When the season starts.
Clinton-Massie only returns four starters from a defense that allowed just 15.7 points per contest and just 11.0 in divisional play. On offense the Falcons have to replace a starting quarterback and are in need of some girth up front. Brady Gray and Peyton Warren are solid 1-2 punch out of the backfield but the rest of the skill position players lack Friday night lights experience.
Clinton-Massie is a combined 39-1 in SBAAC American games over the last eight years (only loss to Western Brown in 2021). Expect that dominance to continue with a roster that is out to show they are worthy of carrying on the program’s winning traditions in this new era.
