FORT THOMAS, Kentucky — Highlands delivered one of the biggest statements of Week 4, jumping all over Boyle County early and rolling to a 41-21 victory Friday night.
The Bluebirds snapped the Rebels’ 15-game winning streak with a performance that was even more dominant than the final score suggests. Highlands raced to a 28-0 halftime lead, outgaining Boyle County 207-32 over the opening 24 minutes.
Bryce Armstrong helped ignite the fast start, breaking loose for a 33-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0 late in the first quarter. Tayden Lorenzen added one of the night’s highlight-reel plays early in the second, hurdling a defender on his way to a 12-yard touchdown run and a 21-0 advantage.
Armstrong found the end zone again before halftime as the Bluebirds pushed the margin to four touchdowns.
Boyle County finally mounted a response in the third quarter, putting together a 16-play, 76-yard drive that consumed nearly eight minutes. Kain Logan finished it with a 13-yard touchdown run, cutting the Highlands lead to 28-7.
The Bluebirds answered quickly.
Colt Kremer scored on a 5-yard run with 1:19 remaining in the third quarter and added another touchdown from 9 yards out early in the fourth, extending the Highlands advantage to 41-7.
Boyle continued battling down the stretch. Quarterback Jhet Raleigh connected with Logan for a 36-yard touchdown, and Logan later added a 3-yard rushing score to account for the final margin.
Highlands improved to 3-1 with the victory, rebounding from its Week 3 loss with one of the most impressive wins anywhere in the Tri-State on Friday night.
