Three TSF teams—East Central, Lawrenceburg, and Milan—were standing when the night started, but all one would survive the championship round of the IHSAA playoffs on Friday.
CLASS 5A
NEW PALESTINE 20, EAST CENTRAL 6
East Central’s playoff run ended as New Palestine controlled the night with a dominant defensive effort, holding the Trojans to just one touchdown. The game was tied 6–6 at halftime after a 5-yard Will Graf score and two short Dragon field goals, but New Palestine took over after the break. Caden Jacobina powered the second-half surge, rushing for 160 yards and two touchdowns as the Dragons piled up 270 yards on the ground. They limited East Central to just 81 second-half yards, most of New Pal’s 128 after halftime coming in the final quarter. The victory secured the Dragons’ third straight regional championship and 10th in program history.
CLASS 3A
CASCADE 37, LAWRENCEBURG 33
Lawrenceburg’s season ended in a heartbreaking playoff shootout against undefeated Cascade. The Tigers struck first on a 31-yard Isaiah Williams touchdown run, and after the Cadets answered, Crue Gilmour hit Keaten McGrath for a 62-yard score to regain the lead. Cascade tied it again before the quarter ended, then went ahead 20–14 early in the second. Gilmour quickly responded with a 72-yard touchdown run, but Cascade closed the half with a field goal and an 80-yard strike on 3rd-and-17 to take a 30–21 lead. The Tigers battled in the second half but couldn’t hand the Cadets their first loss, finishing the season 10–2.
CLASS 1A
MILAN 22, PROVIDENCE 7
Milan made the long trip to face defending state champion Providence and is heading home with a 22–7 victory. The Indians led 14–7 at halftime, then extended the margin with a 1-yard touchdown and two-point conversion late in the third. Now 7–4 after their third straight road win, Milan advances to the state finals and will host South Putnam next Friday.
