It was a season of firsts for Holy Cross in 2025. The Indians had their first-ever undefeated regular season and district championship. With 10 starters back on offense and nine returning from a defense that allowed just 7.0 points per game and held nine foes to six points or less this team is well positioned to add another wonderful chapter to the program’s historic run.
We have alot of experience returning. We have some key players that are four year starters such as Braylon Thornberry and Max Hunt. We are expecting another good year,” head coach Curt Spencer states. He also knows that there are some uncertainties with his squad. “We have a smaller line than usual.”
The stellar Holy Cross defense features some real ballhawks with Braylon Thornberry (7), Dustin Wilson (7), Xavier Thornberry (5) and Garrett Frederick (5) having combined for 24 takeaways in their career. Frederick (17.0), Wilson (8.0) and Hunt (7.0) combined for 32.0 tackles for losses a year ago.
An explosive offensive attack that averaged 40.7 points per game and scored 43 points or more seven times in 2025 will be giving opposing defenses fits all season long. Running back Charles Oglesby averaged 7.9 yards per carry and found the end zone 12 times and quarterback Brian Ferguson accounted for 34 touchdowns (19 pass, 15 rush) last fall. Braylon Thornberry has 50 career receptions of which 10 have gone for touchdowns.
The schedule is also advantageous for Holy Cross. The Indians’ opponents were a combined 35-74 (.321 winning %) in 2025. All signs point to another great campaign ahead for the boys from Latonia.
