CINCINNATI, Oh. – It might have been a loss for the #18 Colerain, but if Friday’s night’s home opener for the Cardinals is any indication, the program is ready to turn the page on several recent years of struggle.
Neighborhood rival #13 La Salle defeated #18 Colerain 30-21 at Colerain, but it was a back and forth battle in the first half, with the Cardinals actually taking a 21-20 lead into the half against the favored Lancers.
La Salle’s defense, however, put the clamps on in the second half, shutting out Colerain while adding 10 third-quarter points to take a 30-21 lead, which would be the final.
The Lancers move to 1-0 on the season, and will host Clayton Northmont at home in Week 2. Colerain falls to 0-1 on the season, and opens Greater Miami Conference play next week as they will host GMC rival #17 Hamilton.
