Holy Cross Stays Perfect With Win Over Holmes

Holy Cross football team takes the field during the 2026 season.

COVINGTON, Kentucky — Holy Cross continued its unbeaten start to the season Friday night, pulling away from Holmes for a 42-12 victory to improve to 4-0.

The Bulldogs struck first on a 3-yard touchdown run, but the Indians quickly responded behind quarterback Brian Ferguson. Ferguson connected with Javier Thornberry for a 43-yard touchdown and then found Thornberry again for a 6-yard score, giving Holy Cross a 14-6 advantage after the opening quarter.

Ferguson kept attacking through the air in the second. His 23-yard touchdown pass to Max Hunt extended the lead to 20-6, which held through halftime.

Holy Cross wasted little time adding to its advantage after the break. Ferguson connected with Garrett Frederickson for a 34-yard touchdown, his fourth scoring pass of the night. The Indians later added a 32-yard field goal to carry a 29-6 lead into the fourth quarter.

The ground game finished things off. Dustin Wilson scored on a 12-yard run early in the fourth before Jacob Rieselman broke loose for a 36-yard touchdown with 2:23 remaining.

Holmes added a 14-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs could never overcome Holy Cross’ 36 unanswered points after taking the early 6-0 lead.

The victory moves Holy Cross to 4-0, continuing an impressive start for a program that entered Week 4 among the teams knocking on the door of the Blitz 5 Top 25 presented by TriStateFootball.com.
