Streaking Into 2016
- Updated: February 27, 2016
There was only one state champion last season amongst all the schools TriState Football covers. That means that most schools who were good enough to make the playoffs ended their seasons with a loss.
Four schools will take an area high five game winning streaks into the 2016. La Salle, the only team that won a title a year ago has all five of its victories in the playoffs. The other three schools that join the Lancers all ended the regular season on five game winning streaks but did not make the playoffs.
Bishop Fenwick heads into ’16 with 14 consecutive regular season triumphs. Defense has fueled the Falcons flight. They have given up just 7.3 points, shutout four foes and held six others to eight points or fewer during their 14 game surge.
On the not so bright side of life Greenon hasn’t seen a victory since October 2013. Lack of offense has been the Knights downfall during their current 21-game skid. Greenon has been shutout 10 times, scored six points six times, scored seven points once and never put up more than 15 points in that span. The Knights are a combined 2-38 over the past four campaigns.
