Covington Catholic moves to 13-0
- Updated: November 18, 2017
The magical 2017 season for the Covington Catholic Colonels continued on Friday night as they rolled past the South Oldham Dragons 49-7 to claim a Class 5A regional title and moved to 13-0 in the process.
Like they’ve done in each of their post-season contest so far, the Colonels pretty much put the game away in the opening quarter.
Quarterback A.J. Mayer threw for three touchdowns in the opening frame to build a 21-0 lead. He added two more TD passes in the second quarter and the running clock was on.

Mayer finished the night by completing 13-of-18 passes for 204 yards and five touchdowns, including two to junior Jack Coldiron. Grant Dyer and Jacob Shriver each added rushing scores in the win.
