Scoring flurry lifts La Salle

La Salle scored 24 points in a six-minute span late in the second quarter and early in the third as the Lancers beat Harrison, 45-10 in a Region 8 playoff opener on Friday.
The score was tied at seven midway through the second quarter, but Jake Seibert kicked a 37-yard field goals with three minutes left in the first half and Shane McNally returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown in the closing seconds of the second quarter.
Cameron Porter ran in a TD from 47 yards just 39 seconds into the third quarter to make it 24-7 and Seibert caught a touchdown pass two minutes later to put it out of reach.
QB Griffin Merritt finished 17 of 25 for 222 yards and two touchdowns, Porter led La Salle with 78 ground yards and Josh Whyle led Lancers receivers with 73 yards.
Frankie Young threw for 263 yards, and C.J. Young caught eight passes for 135 yards to lead the Wildcats.
The Lancers will face No. 4 Sidney next week at a site TBA.
