CovCath continues dominance versus Beechwood

PARK HILLS, kentucky – Covington Catholic downed Beechwood 49-14 to advance to 5-0 on the season. Despite the comfortable win, Beechwood broke Covington Catholic’s streak of 15 games with a running clock versus KY teams.
Cov Cath had a total of 524 offensive yards while holding Beechwood to 196. Beechwood had more punting yards on six attempts then they did the whole game on offense.
Luke Summe from Covington Catholic had an 85-yard kickoff return to start off the scoring for the Colonels. Running back Casey McGinness had 11 rushing attempts for 173 yards and three touchdowns with four receptions for 40 yards and one receiving touchdown. Quarterback Caleb Jacob also had a good night, going 17-22 for 272 yards and three passing touchdowns.
With Beechwood scoring only 14 points, they surprisingly were 100 percent in the red zone (2-2) and on fourth down (1-1), while Covington Catholic went (2-3) in the redzone and (1-2) on fourth down. All of the scoring was done in the first three quarters, with both defenses playing strong in the fourth to not let up a point.
