Edgewood Rains on Rival Badin’s Parade
- Updated: September 7, 2018
Edgewood remains undefeated with a 35-10 win at home over Badin Friday night.
The Cougars could not have asked for a better start to the season. Going into this game they have outscored their opponents 77-15 and that dominance continued Friday night in this non-conference showdown.
The Cougars jumped out to an early touchdown lead in the first quarter when quarterback Corbin Craft found Wade Phillips on a 45-yard pass.
Edgewood extended the lead early in the second quarter on an 11-yard touchdown run by running back Elijah Williams. This was the first of three touchdowns for Williams on the night, He finished with 155 yards on 16 carries.
The Cougars pushed the lead even further before halftime, 28-3, when Wade scored his second touchdown on a 13-yard run. Wade rushed for 85 yards on 18 carries to help the Edgewood offense total 385 yards.
Defensively the Cougars forced two turnovers and held Badin to only 209 yards. They have yet to allow more than 10 points in the first three games. Badin’s Zach Switzer was able to compile 128 passing yards against this defense and scored the lone Badin touchdown on a 47-yard pass to Davon Starks.
This is the first time Edgewood started the season 3-0 since 2012 when they opened 4-0 before losing to Ross.
For Badin this was its first loss after comfortable wins over Ross and Talawanda. They have not been to the playoffs since 2015 when they lost to next week’s opponent Fenwick, who is coming off a loss to Clinton Massie.
Edgewood will look to stay undefeated as they host Northwest.
