Edgewood Shuts Out Little Miami

The Edgewood defense shuts out Little Miami, 20-0, Friday night at home in a conference battle for first place.

Elijah Williams scored two touchdowns and Wade Phillips added the third touchdown.

The defense forced three turnovers, including an interception and two fumbles. This shutout was the second straight week after defeating Talawanda, 54-0.

Edgewood (7-2, 4-1), the two-time defending SWOC champion, went into the game tied with Mount Healthy and Harrison for second in the conference, a half-game behind Little Miami. Edgewood is projected to make the playoffs and helped their resume after winning a game against a seven-win Little Miami team. The Cougars are playing Mount Healthy in next Friday’s season finale.

The Cougars’ scored on their second possession after starting on their own 38. They put together a 10-play drive that finished with Williams scoring on a four-yard touchdown run.

Williams scored his second touchdown on a one-yard scoring run that capped an 11-play, 65-yard drive to give Edgewood a 13-0 lead with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

Phillips scored on a 29-yard run after the defense recovered a fumble recovery.

Little Miami will play a non-conference game against Western Hills.
