The time is fleeting for teams to make one last playoff push. What happens in the SWOC and with GCL South schools the last two weeks will have major implications on the playoff picture. The only thing that isn’t murky is that Division I Colerain has already clinched a first-round home playoff game. The Cardinals have never lost an opening round postseason tilt. That’s bad news for the team that sneaks into the eighth and final playoff berth in Region 4. Here’s what’s in store heading into Week 9 of the season:

RANKINGS – OHIO DI
Up two spots, #2 Fairfield has earned it’s rank in the poll. The reward for the Indians (winners of seven in a row), is a trip to #1 Colerain. The GMC title is on the line. The last time a team took the conference outright that wasn’t named Colerain was back in 1999 when Fairfield claimed the championship. Red hot #10 Wayne can win the GWOC National East by stealing a victory at #6 Springfield. The Warriors have scored 49 points three times during their current four game winning streak.… COMPLETE RANKINGS

RANKINGS – OHIO DII-DIII
Nine of the 10 ranked teams won last Friday. It would have been all 10 had #3 La Salle’s game not been cancelled. The only game between ranked squads this Friday has #10 Little Miami traveling to #7 Edgewood. A road win here will give the Panthers at least a share of the SWOC title. Both #2 Winton and #3 La Salle host tough challenges against out of area/state schools.… COMPLETE RANKINGS

RANKINGS – OHIO DIV-DVII
Movement at the bottom of the poll sees #7 Batavia and #8 Aiken flip-flopping spots. A big victory for #9 Madeira over Deer Park puts the Mustangs entering the rankings. There is nothing on the slate between ranked schools this weekend. Despite that fact several squads in the rankings are susceptible to upset seekers.…. COMPLETE RANKINGS

RANKINGS – NKY
The battle between #1 Covington Catholic and #2 Highlands did not disappoint. CovCath prevailed with a 21-14 road victory. The Colonels have now won 23 games in a row. Road weary #4 Simon Kenton is at #7 Ryle in what could be a trap game for the Pioneers…. COMPLETE RANKINGS
