- Updated: November 2, 2018

MASON, Ohio – Lakota East topped No. 2 seed Mason on the road 20-17, giving them their first playoff win since 2014. The game was an old fashion battle to the finish with neither team able to stretch the lead farther than seven points.
The team stat comparison was pretty much identical with both teams turning the ball over once and passing for exactly 92 yards each. The majority of the work was on the ground with Lakota East rushing for 201 yards with two rushing TDs and Mason rushing for 173 yards with two rushing TDs of their own.
Lakota East’s, Jack Dobrozsi and Sean Church, both led the way for the Thunderhawks. Dobroszi had 21 carries with 79 yards and a touchdown and Sean was 7-of-10 through the air for 92 yards and had 14 carries with 29 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Kicker Gavin Myers also came up clutch by hitting a 31-yard field goal and the game-winning 20-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Mason had a great season going (8-2) and managed to beat Fairfield in the last regular season game in OT to claim the #2 seed in the playoffs, but they ended up on the short side of the stick here
Lakota East survived and advances in the OHSAA Division I Playoffs with a meeting with the Elder Panthers on tap. They will play at a neutral site next Friday (November 9) @ 7p.m.
