2019 TSF Dayton DPOY Finalists

Of the seven finalists for the 2019 TriState Football Dayton Defensive Player of the Year, two of them were named Southwest District Player of the Year and three others were honored as their conference’s best on this side of the ball. Six of the finalists are seniors with just one junior. This is the first nomination for six players as well.

Here is a look at the finalists for the 2019 TSF Dayton Defensive Player of the Year:
Mason Henry (Alter), Sr, LB – At 6-foot-3 and 220-pounds Henry is an absolute beast at linebacker. He finished the season with 141 total tackles (76 solo) including two games with 20 total tackles and had a fumble recovery. That effort earned Henry 2019 OPSWA Division III First Team All-Ohio, Third Team All-TSF and GCL Co-eds Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors. He has offers from Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Dayton, Mount Union, Ohio Wesleyan, Rose-Hulman and Valparaiso. Henry ends his career for Alter with more than 300 total tackles. The Knights compiled a 29-9 mark with Henry starting at linebacker.
Sammy Anderson (Trotwood-Madison), Sr, DB – Anderson has knack for making the big play with a flare for the dramatic. He was vital cog for a Trotwood-Madison defense that propelled the Rams to a second state championship in the last three years. Anderson finished the year with 41 total tackles. During the playoffs he came up with a sack, forced a fumble, recovered two fumbles and snared two interceptions including a pick six. His work earned him 2019 OPSWA Division III First Team All-Ohio, the Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-TSF accolades. The University of Cincinnati signee also had 22 receptions for 488 yards (22.2/catch) and 10 receiving touchdowns over the last 11 games of the season.
Trey Baker (Fairmont), Sr, LB – The 2019 OPSWA Division I First Team All-Ohio and Second Team All-TSF honoree is a TSF Player of the Year finalist for a second straight year. Baker tallied 84 total tackles, forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble, had an interception, ran 209 yards and five touchdowns in his final season as a Firebird. As a junior, Baker was named OPSWA Division I Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-TSF and the GWOC National East Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The four-year starter ends his career with 315 total tackles (193 solo), three sacks and seven interceptions.
Tim Keseday (Springboro), Sr, DB – Keseday played like ivery game was his last, in what was a breakout campaign. The defensive back garnered 2019 OPSWA Division I Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-TSF and GWOC Defensive Player of the Year honors after getting in on 82 total tackles, with three fumble recoveries and an interception. On offense Keseday led the Panthers with 13 touchdowns rushing while running for 548 yards. The effort helped Springboro to a 9-2 record and the GWOC National title. He finished his career with 1,072 yards and 18 touchdowns rushing, 1,383 all-purpose yards, 140 total tackles, three fumble recoveries and an interception.
Xzerious Stinnett (Springfield), Sr, LB – Springfield (12-2) won its first ever regional title and Stinnett set the tone with his play on defense. The Wildcats allowed just 11.6 points per contest while holding seven foes to seven points or less. Stinnett had eight games with at least 10 total tackles, 151 total tackles overall and two fumble recoveries on his way to being selected 2019 OPSWA Division I Third Team All-Ohio and First Team All-TSF.
Devin Hall (Xenia), Sr, DE/OLB – An integral piece of a Xenia (9-2) defense that helped lead the program to its first ever playoff appearance. The Buccaneers allowed just 10.5 points per contest and posted four shutouts. Hall was in on 75 total tackles with seven sacks and a fumble recovery. That effort saw him be named the 2019 MVL Defensive Player of the Year, OPSWA Division II Second Team All-Southwest District (LB) and Third Team All-TSF (DL). He finishes his career with 197 total tackles, three fumble recoveries and 13.5 sacks.
Hunter Warner (Fairborn), Jr, LB – One of the most productive players in Southwest Ohio. Warner recorded 131 total tackles (57 solo), had two sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered three fumbles on his way to being named 2019 OPSWA Division II First Team All-Ohio (LB), the Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-TSF (ATH). He also ran for 1,104 yards, had 10 receptions for 97 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. Warner heads into his senior season with 346 total tackles (177 solo), two sacks, seven forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and one interception. On offense he has amassed 1,655 all-purpose yards, 1,478 yards rushing with 16 trips to the endzone in a Skyhawks uniform.
