Winton Woods senior stars running back Trey Cornist and defensive back Jermaine Matthews, Jr. helped the Warriors to a 12-1 mark with their stellar performances. Cornist ran for 1,629 yards, averaged 9.0 yards per carry with 25 touchdowns rushing and one receiving on his way to the 2022 OPSWA Division II Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year accolades. Cornist recently re-opened his recruiting process after originally committing to Georgia Tech.

Matthews, Jr. the OPSWA Division II Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year was a menace with 51 total tackles, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, six interceptions including three pick-sixes and 209 interception return yards. He also had a touchdown receiving, one on a punt return and another on a kickoff return. Matthews, Jr. is committed to Ohio State.

In more than 100 years of football, Xenia had never finished a regular season 10-0 until this fall. That accomplishment earned head coach Maurice Harden the OPSWA Division II Southwest District Coach of the Year honors in his second season as the Buccaneers front man.
