TSF 2022 Indiana OPOY: Josh Ringer
- Updated: February 21, 2023
It was a historic campaign for East Central (13-2) who won the school’s third state championship and first since 2017. The offense was led by junior running back Josh Ringer, who was named the 2022 TriState Football Indiana Offensive Player of the Year, as TSF paid tribute to the area’s finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana at the Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail in downtown Cincinnati.
Ringer racked up big time numbers running for 2,368 yards, had 18 receptions for 320 yards amassed 2,752 all-purpose yards and found the end zone 42 times (39 rush, three rec). He ran for 100 yards or more 13 times with nine games of 140-plus yards rushing, six games of 200-plus all-purpose yards and had career highs of 338 yards and six touchdowns rushing against South Dearborn. His efforts also earned him IFCA Class 4A Junior All-State (RB) and First Team All-TSF (ATH) honors.
Josh and brother Sam, the 2021 TSF Indiana DPOY, become the third set of brothers to be named TriState Football Players of the Year. They join Covington Catholic’s AJ (2017 TSF Kentucky OPOY) & Michael Mayer (2019 TSF Kentucky OPOY & 2018 TSF Kentucky DPOY) and Colerain’s DeShawn (2019 TSF Cincinnati DPOY) & Orlando Pace Jr. (2018 TSF Cincinnati DPOY) in the exclusive group.
Ringer has offers from Ball State, Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan, Dartmouth, Columbia and Penn.
TriStateFootball.com was founded in 2005 and started its postseason awards for the Indiana Offensive Player of the Year in 2010.
