2023 TSF Dayton Team of the Year: Valley View
- Updated: February 20, 2024
Football rules in Germantown once again. Valley View (13-2) won its second straight Division V, Region 20 Regional Championship and for that they were honored as the 2023 TriState Football Dayton Team of the Year as TSF paid tribute to the area’s finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana at the Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail in downtown Cincinnati.
Valley View avenged it’s only regular season loss in the regional title tilt. The Spartans took down league rival Waynesville in a rematch coming from behind in the second half, to score the games last 21 points and win decisively, 42-24. It was back-to- regional crowns for Valley View for the first time since 1996-97 and ninth regional title in program history (all in last 31 years).
The season would end the next week as the Spartans fell to Liberty Center in the state semifinals. Head Coach Matt King upped his record to 26-4 overall in his two years at the helm.
Valley View lit up the scoreboard averaging 43.6 points per game. The Spartans scored 31 points or more 14 times and 40-plus points on 11 occasions. The offense averaged 400.0 yards per game (207.2 rush, 192.8 rec) with 89 touchdowns (52 rush, 32 rec).
