2025 Video Snapshot: Turpin

In the 49 year history of Turpin football, only once have the Spartans had four consecutive losing seasons (1979-82). Now the 2025 squad looks to avoid repeating that dubious distinction again after three straight campaigns below .500. Head coach Bryan Walker, in his third year at the helm believes his team is ready to turn the corner and get Turpin back to its winning ways.

HONOR ROLL
Brody Nickerson, Sr, LB – The heart-and-soul of the Spartans defense. Nickerson was named OPSMA Division II Second Team All-Southwest District after getting in on 84 tackles, with 9.0 sacks, 15.5 tackles for losses, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery as a junior. He has 160  tackles, 9.0 sacks, 22.5 tackles for losses, two forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in his career.

Brandon Riley, Sr, OL/DL – A pleasant surprise for the Spartans in 2024. Riley registered 52 tackles and had 5.0 sacks on his way to Second Team All-ECC accolades.

Max Heis, Sr, WR/DB – A Second Team All-ECC selection as a junior, Heis is beginning to rack up some big numbers in a Turpin uniform. He has 81 receptions, 1,003 receiving yards, seven touchdown catches, 45 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, three pass breakups and an interception in his career. 

Mac Reed, Sr DB – Rose to the occasion in his varsity debut. Reed was named Honorable Mention All-ECC after getting in on 18 tackles, with eight pass breakups, a fumble recovery and three interceptions including a pick-six.

OTHER RETURNEES
Evan Overholser, Sr, WR – One of the school’s top all-time receivers. Overholser and teammate Heis are tied for fourth place in school history with 81 receptions. His 1,046 receiving yards are sixth most in school history and his nine touchdown receptions are tied for 10th most in school history.

Brady Gillespie, Sr, DB/RS – A leader of the secondary and a menace on special teams as a return man. Gillespie has 72 tackles, 3.5 tackles for losses, nine pass breakups, four takeaways (two FRs, two INTs), 678 kickoff return yards and a kickoff return for a touchdown in a Spartans uniform. 

Luke Mileham, Sr, WR/OLB – Will be a difference-maker on both sides of the ball. Mileham had 14 receptions, 151 yards receiving, one touchdown catch, 41 tackles, 4.0 tackles for losses and two pass breakups as a junior.

Austin Schloemer, Jr, LB – Had a rock solid varsity debut with 39 tackles, a sack, 4.0 tackles for losses and a fumble recovery in 2024.

Ben Frye, Jr, DB – Back for his second season as a starter, Frye was in on 29 tackles, had four pass breakups and an interception in his debut.

Addi Braun, Sr, K – By the time the season ends Braun should be in the top five of all place kicking categories in school history. She has 88 career points connecting on 58/65 extra points and 10/13 field goals (long of 35-yards).

Henry Feltman, Sr, P – A special teams weapon, Feltman averaged 38.1 yards on 29 punts with a long of 55-yards with four punts placed inside the opponents 20-yard line.
