It has been 19 years since Oak Hills has finished above .500 (6-4 in 2006) and despite that futility the program has shown signs of being on the upswing. The Highlanders have made the playoffs in each of the past five seasons. Progress is headed in the right direction, now it’s time to take the next steps..put together a winning campaign and nab the schools first ever postseason victory.

Dan Scholz begins his second stint as head coach. The cupboard isn’t bare for Scholz. The Highlanders return a solid core of players who are experienced and most importantly, the most athletic group at the skill positions that the program has seen in years.

Defensively, the front seven will be one of Oak Hills strengths. The secondary also has a veteran core who are capable of creating takeaways.

On offense, the line has question marks. Young, undersized and inexperienced linemen will need to step up and solidify play in the trenches. A group of exciting skill players will be able to mask some of the growing pains up front early in the year. If the line gels this could be a very enjoyable offense to watch as the season wears on.

This team is on the cusp of changing the perception of the program. If the Highlanders handle the challenges and adversity that comes their way this fall, and they will be more than prepared to do so, it will be that breakthrough season that has eluded Oak Hills for the last two decades.
