LAWRENCEBURG, Indiana – Lawrenceburg owned the second half Friday night, pulling away from Taylor for a 48-14 victory in the Route 50 Rumble.
The Tigers took control from the opening drive as Crue Gilmour scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to give Lawrenceburg a 7-0 lead. Quarterback Campbell Williams doubled the advantage early in the second quarter, connecting with Mason Manford for a 33-yard touchdown as the Tigers carried a 14-0 lead into halftime.
Lawrenceburg extended the margin to 21-0 when Williams scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter. Taylor finally broke through when its passing combination of Albers and Jones connected for a touchdown, but Gilmour immediately answered with a 27-yard touchdown run to make it 27-7.
Taylor struck again through Albers and Jones late in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 27-14, but that was as close as the Yellow Jackets would get.
Gilmour broke loose for another long touchdown run to open the fourth quarter and then found the end zone for the fourth time to cap a 74-yard Lawrenceburg drive and push the advantage to 41-14.
Griffin Sturgeon finished the scoring with a touchdown with 4:19 remaining as Lawrenceburg erupted for 34 second-half points and turned the rivalry matchup into a convincing 48-14 victory.
Gilmour was at the center of the offensive explosion, accounting for four rushing touchdowns on the night. Williams added a rushing touchdown and a touchdown pass as the Tigers found the end zone seven times.
