Class 3A, Sectional 30
Batesville 49, Indian Creek 22
It has taken two years but Batesville finally avenged a playoff loss to Indian Creek. The Bulldogs current seniors were sophomore on that squad that fell to the Braves in 2013. It was Batesville’s only loss that season. Thing fell into place for the Bulldogs who tied a season high with 49 points and coasting to a fourth straight victory of 20 or more points. Up next will be a rematch with league rival Lawrenceburg. Batesville won that affair 29-14 on the road. This go round the Bulldogs will host the Tigers. Batesville who improved to 10-1 last won a sectional title in 2009.
Lawrenceburg 35, Greensburg 27
Round two of Greensburg versus did not disappoint. Lawrenceburg eked out an eight point thriller and advance to the Class 3A Sectional 30 championship game. Greensburg beat the Tigers 21-20 back in Week 4 of the regular season. That loss left Lawrenceburg sitting at 1-3. Since then the Tigers have won six of seven contests including five in a row. The last sectional crown for Lawrenceburg was in 2012. The Tigers will be looking for the 17th sectional title in program history.
Class 4A, Sectional 23
East Central 36, Shelbyville 25
You expect your seniors to step up big when playing what could be potentially their last game and Luke Patton answered that call for East Central on Friday night. The quarterback ran for 231 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans bowled over the Golden Bears. It was the second straight season that East Central has had and impressive road wins to knock Shelbyville out of the playoffs. Patton ran for four touchdowns in that affair. The Trojans will now host Seymour (5-6) for the Sectional 23 championship. The last sectional title for East Central was in 2010.
