Commitments Give June a Hot Sendoff
- Updated: July 1, 2019
It was a month of furious activity for the Class of 2020 recruits in the TriState Football coverage area. June ended red-hot on the recruiting trails as Princeton DE Darrion Henry announced he was verbally committing to Ohio State. He was the third Viking in the last 30 days to commit. Classmates, OLB Juan Jarrett said his allegiance is with Kansas and DB Elijah Eberhardt will head north to Bowling Green. We are still waiting to see where Princeton standout LB Jaheim Thomas decides to continue his gridiron career.
All the activity started early in June when Fairfield RB Jutahn McClain verbally committed to Kentucky while La Salle K Jake Seibert said Ohio State is the place for his foot. The carpool to Columbus for Seibert and Henry also includes early Buckeyes verbals from Elder OL Jakob James and Princeton OL Parris Johnson. Johnson transferred from St. Xavier so he could enroll at OSU for the Spring semester. Something he could not have done at St. X. James’ teammates, OL Luke Kandra gave the thumbs up to Louisville while TE Joe Royer is weighing his options as a rising commodity amongst Power 5 conference “wooers.”
Mid-American Conference schools got in on the act as well. Lakota West RB David Afari commits to Miami (OH), Fairfield ATH Sawiaha Ellis says yes to Toledo and Highlands LB Brycen Huddleston commits to Eastern Michigan all in the past couple of weeks.
