Princeton holds off Sycamore

CINCINNATI, Ohio – It was a back-and-forth battle on Friday in a GMC showdown between two high-powered offenses and Sycamore and Princeton didn’t disappoint as they combined for 814 total yards of offense.

Vikings’ quarterback Mehki Lynn had a huge night as they ran for three scores and threw for another. He led Princeton to the game’s first score when he connected with Lamont Johnson on a 26-yard scoring strike.

Sycamore would answer and they would do it on the ground as William Ingle scored from three yards out on the team’s next possession. Princeton struggled stopping Ingle all night as evident by his three rushing touchdowns.

Lynn hurried things up and caught Sycamore sleeping on his next score when he scampered in from eight yards out.

After a scoreless second quarter of play the Vikings took a 14-7 lead to the locker room. Midway through the third quarter back-to-back dropped snaps by Princeton led to Sycamore getting a safety.

Just when the momentum was starting to shift, Sycamore fumbled the kick and Princeton recovered. The Vikings couldn’t take advantage though and after a three-and-out another TD run by Ingle gave the Aviators a 15-14 lead (two-point conversion no good).

Princeton wouldn’t go away though. Lynn put the game away though with a pair of dazzling fourth-quarter runs, including a 62-yard dash that gave the Vikings back the lead for good.
