2022 Snapshot: Batavia
- Updated: August 8, 2022
For new Batavia head coach Wayne Stacy it is all about wiping the slate clean and starting a whole new era. The Bulldogs have struggled to be competitive the past three seasons especially in league play. Getting this program back to respectability will be a top priority or Stacy and his staff.
Over the past three years, Batavia is a combined 0-14 in SBAAC American play with and average margin of defeat of 47.7 points per game (54.2 to 6.5) including being shutout six times. The Bulldogs last divisional win was October 12th, 2018 at Wilmington.
“The nucleus of the team is working very hard to create a positive football culture,” Stacy states. “They are working through adjusting to new offensive and defensive schemes.”
Taking care of the little things will be the fist step towards building a better future for Batavia. The more of those little goals get accomplished the more the Bulldogs confidence is going to soar. The pace at which that happens comes down to the players want and desire to get it done.
Division IV, Region 16
2021 RECORD: 1-8, 0-5 SBAAC American
COACH: Wayne Stacy (0-0 at Batavia, first year; 15-14 overall, three years)
TOP RETURNEES
Seniors OL/LB Keith Bell, LB Blake Martin and LB Cy Gibson head up an athletic linebacking core that will be one of Batavia’s strengths. Bell was a Second Team All-SBAAC American selection a year ago.
Junior QB Jess Roller should be the biggest benefactor of playing in Stacy’s Air Raid offensive system. He is the perfect fit for the scheme. Roller threw for 781 yards and five touchdowns on his way to Honorable Mention All-SBAAC American accolades as sophomore.
