Panthers power to road win

The Springboro Panthers went on the road Friday night and came away with a 21-7 victory over host Mason at Dwire Field. The Panthers jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and were not threatened as they moved to 1-0 in a tough and physical ball game.

The Panthers outgained the Comets in total yards 330-139 and were 7-11 on third down. Springboro amassed 187 yards on the ground as their rushing attack was working well all night. The Panthers were able to move the ball consistently on the ground and find their rhythm within their offense.

Mattias Brunicardi rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns to pace the attack for the visitors. Quarterback Max Miller was 14/20 for 143 yards and a score. Drew Balogh had a receiving touchdown for the Panthers. Offensively, the Comets could not find a consistent attack to bother the Panthers. Alex Brown led Mason with 11 tackles.
