The Raiders gained 478 yards en route to beating Conner, 42-28 on Friday, giving Ryle a 2-0 record in their three-team district.

Chisholm finished with 24 carries for 217 yards and those two critical TDs. He put the Raiders ahead, 35-28 with a 46-yard run with 3:19 left in the third and added the final score of the game with 8:33 to play from 18 yards out.

Ryle QB Tanner Morgan finished 14 of 20 for 226 yards and three scores. His top target – Bryce Ashley – hauled in seven catches for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Conner’s Walker Buelow was 17-for-28 passing for 276 yards and two TDs. Matt Simpson caught both touchdown passes and ended the night with five receptions for 121 yards.

The Raiders actually led by two scores early on two occasions, 14-0 and 21-8, but the Cougars evened the score at 21 before halftime on Simpson’s two scores on 40- and 46-yard catches.

Conner took its only lead, 28-21 on Armand Jackson’s 10-yard run in the third quarter, but Morgan ran one in from five yards out to tie it later in that stanza.

Ryle is 8-0 and has never finished a regular season unbeaten. Its best record was 9-1 in 2010, a season the Raiders advanced to the state quarterfinal round.

Ryle is home for its final two games, vs. Simon Kenton and Dixie Heights.

The Cougars’ five-game winning streak was snapped, but they look to rebound next week at Cooper in their final district game. Both teams are 0-1 in Class 6A.
