2021 Snapshot: East Clinton

This could and should be a “get over the hump” year for East Clinton. The Astros are looking to create new fortunes. With a squad that has played a ton of snaps at the varsity level, the program is primed for success.

“We return 11 seniors, 16 lettermen and will have our most experienced team in years. This group is having a great offseason. We have seen anywhere from 20-25 guys regularly at our workouts. They are hungry to have a great campaign. The goal is to have our first winning season in 10 years,” head coach Steven Olds states.

East Clinton has quality leadership. It will be one of their strengths. Like most smaller schools, the Astros lack for depth at certain positions. It is important that key members of the rotation stay healthy for this team to be prosperous.

The schedule is conducive to the Astros getting off to a great start. The first five teams on the slate, all had losing records in 2020. For the first time in a decade East Clinton is now expected to beat the teams/peers that they are supposed to on Friday nights. Accomplishing that will be the difference in them having a winning season and securing a playoff berth or sitting at home in Week 11.
