Princeton claims GMC title

FAIRFIELD, Ohio– In their quest for the GMC title, the Princeton Vikings rolled over the Fairfield Indians, using a potent offensive attack and a rock-solid defense to claim their eighth win of the season — all in Greater Miami Conference play — with a commanding 35-0 victory on Friday night.

It was the third straight conference crown for Princeton. A feat the program had not accomplished since winning four in a row from 1990-93.

From the opening kickoff, it was all Vikings. The Indians struggled to generate any momentum on offense, allowing Princeton to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The tone was set early with a 31-yard touchdown run on third-and-two by senior tailback LJ
Williams.

Senior quarterback Lauris Barnes was in full command of the offense, consistently connecting with fellow senior Zion Neal throughout the game. Barnes opened the scoring with a short- yardage pop pass to Neal in the back of the end zone, putting Princeton on the board first.

Fairfield showed brief signs of life after the first quarter, but their progress was quickly derailed. A promising drive ended in disappointment as junior kicker Hunter Gagen missed a field goal attempt wide of the uprights.

Princeton’s defense continued to stand tall when it mattered most. A red zone interception snuffed out another Fairfield scoring opportunity, and a blocked field goal just before halftime marked the third defensive stand near their own end zone.

The second half didn’t get any easier for the Indians. Princeton’s senior wideout Zion Neal took the first play from scrimmage in the second half 80-yards to the house to put the Vikings up a whopping four scores at the onset of the second half.

As the game wore on, Princeton’s offense began to pour it on. One of the night’s highlights came when senior defensive back Andrew Wells entered the game in a jumbo package and took a 5-yard pitch into the end zone for a rushing touchdown.

Additionally, Wells had an interception earlier in the first half, bookending a memorable night for the Vikings two-way star.

The passing game continued to excel for Princeton, as Barnes added another score with a precision pass to senior tight end Landen Miree, further extending the lead. Wells’ touchdown initiated a running clock, signaling the Vikings’ dominance and capping a statement win. With the playoffs looming, Princeton continues to build momentum, firing on all cylinders as they inch closer to one of their most successful seasons in recent memory.

To close out their respective 2025 regular season’s, Princeton will host Middletown in a huge
conference showdown, while Fairfield will travel to Oak Hills.
