Colerain cruises past Milford

CINCINNATI, Ohio – For the second time in three seasons, the Colerain Cardinals knocked out the Milford Eagles in the OHSAA playoffs as they rolled to a 38-7 victory at Cardinal Stadium on Friday night in the Blitz 5 Game of the Week.

Defense has been the staple for Colerain all season and that was no different in this contest as they shut out Milford for over three quarters of this game. For the sixth time in the last seven weeks, the Cardinals defense held their opponent to 13 points or less. The Eagles were forced into three turnovers and held to minus 11 yards rushing.

On offense, it was the MJ Flowers show for Colerain. He scored all four of the team’s offensive touchdowns, finishing with 131 yards on 26 carries. Quarterback Freddie Johnson added 43 yards through the air and another 65 on the ground.

The Cardinals’ special team unit also made some big plays too. Temesghen Kahsay blocks the Eagles punt and Xander Kendall returns it for Colerain’s other touchdown.

Colerain moves on to Round 2 of the Division I, Region 4 playoffs next week versus GMC rival Mason.
