2021 Video Snapshot: Lakota West

They are the real deal. Lakota West has an outstanding defense and a veteran offense with players who are primed for huge years. The Firebirds have the pieces to compete for a state title.

Getting out of Region 4 will not be easy. Having been to the schools first-ever regional finals in 2020, Lakota West knows the effort it will take to accomplish the feat.

TOP RETURNEES
Alex Afari, Sr, DB – A fantastic football player who will line up in a myriad of positions for the Firebirds defense. Afari was named OPSWA Division I First Team All-Ohio and First Team All-TriState Football as a junior. He has four career interceptions including a pick-six against Fairfield last fall. Afari has verbally committed to Kentucky.

Tegra Tshabola, Sr, OL – The anchor and leader of the Firebirds offensive line. The 6-foot-5, 340-pound Tshabola was a OPSWA Division I First Team All-Ohio and First Team All-TriState Football selection as a junior. He has verbally committed to Ohio State.

Jyaire Brown, Sr, DB – A lightning-fast lockdown corner. Brown will also show up more on offense and in the return game this season. He was a OPSWA Division I First Team All-Ohio and Second Team All-TriState Football selection in 2020. Brown has verbally committed to Ohio State.

Aden Miller, Sr, RB/LB – The backbone of the Lakota West defense. Miller tallied 55 total tackles, six-and-a-half sacks, forced two fumbles and an interception last fall. That performance earned him OPSWA Division I Third Team All-Ohio and Third Team All-TriState Football honors. He also has 383 yards and four touchdowns rushing in his career.

Mitch Bolden, Jr, QB – Back for his third year as a starter, Bolden was a OPSWA Division I Honorable Mention All-Southwest District selection as a sophomore. He has thrown for 1,461 yards, ran for 621 yards and accounted for 25 touchdowns (20 pass, five rush), in his career.

Bryan Henderson, Sr, DL – Was an absolute terror on the Firebirds defensive line last season. Henderson was in on 35 total tackles, had five-and-a-half sacks, forced three fumbles and recovered three fumbles. He was named First Team All-GMC. Henderson has verbally committed to Buffalo.

Lathan McComis, Sr, OL – An unsung hero on the West o-line. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound McComis was named First Team All-GMC as a junior.

Cam Goode, Sr, RB – Look for Goode to have a breakout senior campaign. He ran for 454 yards and four touchdowns a year ago. He earned Second Team All-GMC honors for the effort.

Trent Lloyd, Jr, WR – Could emerge as the Firebirds top receiver this fall. Lloyd had 19 receptions for 236 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore. He was named Second Team All-GMC.
